Good book. Donna is at the ranch to help her sister and cousin get the B & B up and running before she goes back to New York to restart her magazine career. She has very definite idea about the kind of man she wants in her life and Caleb isn't even close. She's a city girl and being stuck in the country isn't what she wants. But there is something about Caleb that keeps drawing her to him, and it's not just the physical attraction she feels toward him. I have to say that Donna's attitude toward Caleb at first bothered me. She seemed to look down on him because he wasn't a sophisticated city man. She wasn't happy about the attraction she felt. I enjoyed seeing her get to know him and realize what a good man he was. As they got closer Donna could see the trouble he was having dealing with his father's dementia and wanted to help him. She also discovered that he had some good insights into the situation her family was facing with a previously unknown sibling. I liked the way that she listened to what he said about cherishing the time you have with your family. She has been emotionally withdrawn from her father since her mother's death and it got worse with the revelations of why he's been estranged from his brother and father. Even as she and Caleb got closer she wasn't thinking in terms of a future with him, but just enjoying each other while she was there. She doesn't really believe in the foretelling qualities of the feather bed, but ends up sleeping on it and dreaming of being pregnant. When one night with Caleb does result in a pregnancy she isn't sure what to do. She realizes she's fallen in love with him but is afraid to risk her heart. I liked seeing how her family issues help her to see what she really wants with Caleb.
Caleb has worked on the ranch for years and was very close to Donna's grandfather. He could see what reconciling the family would have meant for her grandfather and does his best to make sure she understands. Caleb had been interested in Donna from the first time he saw her. When he gets the chance to spend some time with her he takes it. Even though he can see that she is resisting the idea of something between them he persists in his pursuit. He has a pretty romantic soul and I loved the dinner that he cooked for her. I also enjoyed seeing him step up for her when she was having problems dealing with her family. I liked the confidence that he showed in his pursuit of her but he also has his vulnerabilities. His father's dementia has caused his dad to be very mean and say things that make Caleb feel rather worthless. So even though he appears very confident to Donna, he is also fighting to feel that he is good enough for her. I loved the conclusion and seeing both of them accept their feelings and move forward together.

Very good book. Jenna is ready to settle down and have a family of her own, but she hasn't had much luck finding someone to love. She is very organized and goal oriented, so she has made herself a list of what she's looking for in a husband. She knows it isn't JD - the man she found wandering injured along the highway. But she takes him home and gets him help and gives him a job there at the ranch while he recovers. There is a strong attraction between them, but until he can remember who he is all he knows is that he has no interest in a relationship.
I liked both Jenna and JD. Jenna is a country girl at heart, never happier than when she's doing her work as a riding instructor there at the ranch. She's also excited to be starting a B and B with her sister and cousin. The only thing she feels that she is missing is a family of her own. She has very definite ideas of what she wants in a husband. When she comes across JD she can't just leave him wandering, so she takes him to get medical attention. When she discovers that he doesn't know who he is she offers to let him stay at the ranch instead of going to a homeless shelter. She feels an intense attraction to him but he states flat out that he has no interest in relationships or marriage. This is fine with her because he doesn't fit her "profile". While her blind adherence to her list bothered me, I liked the fact that she was willing to step outside her comfort zone and indulge herself a little. Besides her attraction to JD she was also dealing with the new family dynamics. A decision has to be made about whether to look for the missing woman who could be the mother of another cousin/sibling. She also has to decide if she is ready to heal the breach with her father. I liked the way that JD had a good influence on her while she was trying to deal with those two issues. She then also had to cope with the fact that she was falling in love with JD, even though she knew he wouldn't stay once he regained his memory.
JD seemed to be a basically nice guy but with something in his past that his mind wouldn't let him face. He was hesitant to take Jenna up on her offer but couldn't resist the pull he felt to her. I liked the way that he was as honest with her as he could be about what his feelings were. As the days went on and his body healed he could feel that there was a darkness in him that was driving him. But he also felt better when he was with Jenna. I enjoyed the way that they got along and how he tried to keep things honest between them. I could tell that he was happy on the ranch but afraid of what he would find when his memories returned. He was also happy in his non-relationship with Jenna, but also worried about what would happen when he had to leave. When those memories did return his pain was so hard to see. All he wanted to do was go back to running, but he also didn't want to lose Jenna. I loved seeing how her strength and the magic of the feather bed helped him heal.

Good book. Tammy, her father and two brothers have come to see her dying grandfather. Also there are her father's twin brother and her two female cousins. Tammy is curious about the cause of the feud after she overhears some things. She also meets her grandfather's doctor who is young and handsome. Tammy is immediately attracted to him and wants to get to know him better.
I liked both Tammy and Mike. Having grown up with just her father and two older brothers she had no female role models so she is at a disadvantage when it comes to acting on the attraction she feels for Mike. When she meets her two cousins she is thrilled to have other women she can talk to and get advice from. I really enjoyed the shopping trip she did with her cousin Jenna. That did a lot for her self confidence when it came to trying to connect with Mike. I really liked the way that she worked at getting to know her grandfather a bit before he passed and how her curiosity led her to the cabin with the supposedly magical feather bed. I liked her way of cooking for Mike which gave them a chance to get to know each other.
Mike had come to Buckshot Hills to fill in for the local doctor who was sick. He had grown up with a single mother who struggled to make ends meet until she found a job with a wealthy man. He took an interest in Mike and paid for his schooling. Once he is done doing this favor for his benefactor he plans to return to Philadelphia and set up a good practice. He will also take advantage of all the city has to offer and try to improve his social station while providing his mom with the retirement he feels she deserves. He has no plans to stick around Buckshot Hills. He is surprised by the attraction he feels for Tammy and tries hard to resist it. Pretty soon he is enjoying the dinners she cooks for him and getting to know her. He still plans to keep it light and return to Philadelphia, but things start to change for him. I really enjoyed seeing his relationship with his patients and how good he really was at being a country doctor. I loved seeing how events caused him to reassess his dreams and goals.
I'm really looking forward to the next book and seeing how the feud and mystery progress. I have a suspicion about one of the currently minor characters and can't wait to see if I am right.
